French Language Services

Learn about the French language services offered at LECA and how to access them.

The Law Enforcement Complaints Agency (LECA) is committed to delivering French language services (FLS) that are clearly visible, easily accessible, actively offered, and of equal quality to those provided in English. This commitment aligns with our obligations under the French Language Services Act.

Enhancing the availability and quality of French services is a strategic priority for LECA. This includes actively recruiting bilingual staff and ensuring that all individuals engaging with our office can do so in the official language of their choice—without compromising service quality.

All LECA staff receive mandatory and supplementary training on our French language obligations, including the importance of actively offering services in French. This training supports our broader organizational values of accessibility, equity, and inclusion.

To make accessing services easier, LECA provides a Request for French Language Services Form, which can be downloaded from our website. This ensures a streamlined and consistent process for requesting French services.

All LECA forms, documents, publications, and telephone services are available in both French and English. A bilingual staff member will be assigned to a complaint file in the following circumstances:

  • The complaint is submitted in French;
  • The complainant requests that the process be conducted in French; or
  • The complainant expresses a preference to communicate in French at any point in the process.

Complainants who choose to engage in French will have full and equal access to LECA’s complaint processes, resolution options, and communications. The quality of service provided in French will be equivalent to that provided in English.

LECA actively monitors feedback and complaints related to French language services and is committed to responding promptly and effectively.

You can read our full French Language Services Policy for more information.
